   Daddy's horse, Grace, had her first foal the day before Mother's Day. Daddy had already told Mama she could possibly have Grace's baby and Mama said she thought he was a mighty good Mother's Day present. So far, he doesn't have a name.

    This is one of my favorite pictures from the past few months. Looking at it reminds me of so many things and really brings back memories...how not calm Jake and Jane were when Daddy first got them, almost getting run over and killed{I'm sure of it} the first time we hooked them up, and how far they have come since that first time.

   I made these brownies last Sunday for the camp staff dinner. They were really good. A nice crisp outside with a soft warm inside. Yum!

 1 cup oil
2 cups sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla

   Pictures like this make me just plain happy. It reminds me so much of when I was younger and me and my older brother used to do things like this. Only we got much dirtier. Mamma eventually quit trying to keep us clean.  Personally, I think all that dirt did us good.    Our roses have been blooming prolifically this spring. Since I really enjoy having fresh flowers inside, I picked some of them and made a mixed bouquet. Mama's favorite roses are the antique roses, so that's what these are. They smell so good!

It was a long ride, but we had a lot of fun. I feel like quite the world traveler.

   I've been told that it hardly ever rains here in Arizona, but for some reason it has hardly stopped since we got here on Saturday. Today, it finally cleared enough for us to do a little sight seeing. We drove around some and I got my major impression of Arizona : CACTUS. There are cactuses everywhere! I'm not sure there's anything else to see. There are so many different varieties, too.

   On my birthday, instead of a cake, I had a birthday pie. Home-made pie is one of my strongest weaknesses. Strongest weakness...that doesn't sound right. Anyway, I would choose pie over cake any day. I had plans of making a chocolate chip pecan pie, but ended up making a chocolate meringue pie instead.
