Mmmmm......

A few weeks ago I made some cheesecakes for a banquet dinner. There were three plain cheesecakes and two chocolate cheesecakes. They were both very good and I had a hard time figuring out which one was my favorite. Actually, I never really did come to a decision. Who knows? We might need to have a redo.

I still have not figured out why cheesecake has such a reputation for being hard to make. It really isn't. It may crack on the top, but you can usually hide that {or cover it with cherries}. They are really quite easy and anyone who loves to bake should try it at some point. Of course, I'm not a connoisseur so maybe it is hard and I just haven't figured it out yet. Either way, nobody has ever complained.

Fun Times

Pictures like this make me just plain happy. It reminds me so much of when I was younger and me and my older brother used to do things like this. Only we got much dirtier. Mamma eventually quit trying to keep us clean.  Personally, I think all that dirt did us good. At the least it gave us many hours of fun and lots of fond memories.

Tacky Buttons

Our roses have been blooming prolifically this spring. Since I really enjoy having fresh flowers inside, I picked some of them and made a mixed bouquet. Mama's favorite roses are the antique roses, so that's what these are. They smell so good!

This week, I also made some covered button thumbtacks for my new bulletin board.  I found some on the internet, but they were fairly expensive, so I was excited to find a tutorial for how to make them. They were actually not too hard once I figured out what to do.{which was about half way through the process} I was happy with the way they turned out.

This little bowl is from a pottery place in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. that we visited while we were there. They had some really pretty{and expensive} things there. We were also able to see them making some of the pieces, which was very fun and inspiring.

Happy Friday!

The Road Trip

Last week over spring break, my family took a mini - vacation/road trip to Tennessee to pick up a pair of draft horses for camp. It was a long ride, but we had a lot of fun. I feel like quite the world traveler.

Here are a few random images from the trip:

Check out the detail on this building. It had trees, lights, a fire hydrant and even a Fed-Ex dropbox.

This place was un-believable. Not only the detail, but the whole building was built crooked. I can't image trying to build that thing!

I love the expression of amazement here.

This tunnel was really neat and ended up being one of my favorite things we got to see.

I'll try to get some pictures of the horses up soon. They are really pretty, but they are huge!
